A new home for the logbook

After many years on WordPress, I’m relaunching this site. The old one, Broadsword Calling Danny Boy, served well, but it had grown into a slightly unruly pile of posts spanning everything from ionospheric physics to Liverpool FC.

The new version is built around a simple idea, borrowed straight from the definition of amateur radio:

Self-training, intercommunication and technical investigations, carried out with a personal aim and without pecuniary interest.

That’s it, really. I do things because they interest me and I’m learning from them. When the result is useful to someone else, that’s a happy side effect rather than the goal. No pitch, no products. Just a logbook.

What’s changing

• It’s now a static site: faster, simpler, and nothing to keep patched.
• Posts are organised so the breadth of interests reads as deliberate, not random.
• The old archive isn’t going anywhere; I’ll connect it up carefully rather than rush a migration.
